Jane Rusbridge talk: ‘Get Published!’ 21 Sept, 2pm

Jane Rusbridge’s haunting debut novel The Devil’s Music was published by Bloomsbury in 2009, and was picked to be this year’s Bridport Literary Festival’s Big Read. She will be talking about the road to publication on Tuesday 21^st September at the HIGHGATE AND HAMPSTEAD LITERARY FESTIVAL together with literary agent Barbara Levy and Pam White, an experienced book publicist.

Jane took part in this year’s the London Writing Workshop’s Novelists’ Club, and also attended the workshop on Dialogue in 2009.

Asham Award Anthology available from Bloomsbury

The Asham Award anthology Waving at the Gardener (ed. Kate Pullinger) is now available to buy online from Bloomsbury. It’s a wonderfully varied collection – and I’m not just saying that because I have a story in there! (‘Visitors’, on p119).

For me some of the stand-out pieces are Esther Freud’s account of the First Palestine Literary Festival; Alison Dunn’s ‘Omi’s Ghosts’; overall winner Jo Lloyd’s ‘Because It Is Running By’; Erica Rocca’s ‘Something Small and Understood’ and Margaret Atwood’s ‘Rape Fantasies’. Well worth £6.
