			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft" src="http://www.thebookseller.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/news_page/worldbooknight.jpg" alt="" width="122" height="115" />World Book Night will see 20,000 volunteers giving away one million books. Margaret Atwood, Alan Bennett and John Le Carré will be among the authors headlining the launch event in Trafalgar Square on 4th March. Graham Norton will compere the event, while Philip Pullman, Sarah Waters, Mark Haddon, Derek Walcott, Nick Cave, Rupert Everett, Hanif Kureishi, D B C Pierre, Edna O&#8217;Brien and Lemn Sissay are among those who will be reading and performing on the night.</p>
<p>Ten thousand people, made up of 5,000 WBN givers and friends and 5,000 members of the public, will be able to attend the launch event in central London. Tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, with 2,500 pairs of tickets set aside for givers. Information about how to get tickets will be released next week on the<span style="color: #0000ff;"> <a href="http://www.worldbooknight.org/about/what-happens-when/">World Book Night</a></span> website.</p>

<p>For me some of the stand-out pieces are Esther Freud&#8217;s account of the First Palestine Literary Festival; Alison Dunn&#8217;s &#8216;Omi&#8217;s Ghosts&#8217;; overall winner Jo Lloyd&#8217;s &#8216;Because It Is Running By&#8217;; Erica Rocca&#8217;s &#8216;Something Small and Understood&#8217; and Margaret Atwood&#8217;s &#8216;Rape Fantasies&#8217;. Well worth £6.</p>
